How We Started

Tucked into the heart of historic downtown Aztec, just behind Rubia’s, 550 Brewing Company & Taproom is a local gathering place built on family, community, and a love for good beer.

What started in 2013 as a small beer trailer and garage brewing setup quickly grew into something special. Founder Mike Pascall began crafting original recipes that earned awards and built a loyal local following throughout the Four Corners region.

In 2015, after seeing the brewery’s growing popularity, the City of Aztec approached the family about opening a permanent downtown location. From there, 550 Brewing became more than just a brewery — it became a place where locals could gather, relax, share stories, and enjoy handcrafted New Mexico beer in a welcoming atmosphere.

550 Brewing has always been family-owned and operated, with Mike and his daughter Micah building the brewery side by side. After Mike fell ill, the taproom temporarily closed for a year before reopening in May 2025 under Micah Fiske’s leadership, continuing the vision and spirit the brewery was built on.

Today, 550 Brewing proudly serves original recipes brewed onsite alongside New Mexico-made spirits in a laid-back, community-focused space that welcomes everyone — locals, travelers, families, friends, and dogs included.

Whether you're stopping in for live music, grabbing a drink after work, meeting friends for a game of pool, or checking out one of our community events, we’re proud to be part of downtown Aztec and the Four Corners community.

In Memory of Mike PascHall

550 Brewing would not exist without Mike’s creativity, hard work, and passion for bringing people together.

What began as brewing in a garage grew into a community gathering place because of the care and dedication he poured into every recipe, every conversation, and every person who walked through the doors.

His legacy continues to live on through the brewery, the beer, the community he helped build, and the family carrying his vision forward.

Cheers, Mike.
